Renewables Readiness Assessment Botswana: Validation Workshop

With the support of IRENA, the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security (MMGE) of the Republic of Botswana is undertaking a Renewable Readiness Assessment (RRA) for Botswana.

The assessment aims to identify key actions to accelerate renewable energy deployment in the country, with recommendations to strengthen the policy, legal and regulatory frameworks and other measures for renewable energy integration as well as financing. It also aims to bolster the awareness of renewable energy technologies in the country and promote the socioeconomic benefits these technologies encompass.

This validation workshop, which was held on 10-11 November gathered key national stakeholders as well as development partners with the objective to discuss and agree on the recommendations and actions to be taken forward. The workshop involved a series of plenary sessions to maximise active participation of stakeholders with discussions being based on the key themes in the draft RRA report. The outcomes of the workshop will help in finalising the RRA report for Botswana.

This event was by invitation only. To learn more about the RRA Botswana, please write to Regions@irena.org.
