The event strived for a global and balanced geographical representation of youth and senior experts, and highly encouraged participation from all countries.
The Latin America Energy Forum (LAEF) addressed the needs of the evolving Latin America energy sector and discussed investment opportunities for energy project in the region. The unique economic, political and environmental characteristics of each Latin America country, unveils different investment landscapes across the region with massive business potential. As the market continues to move in a fast pace, financing strategies must also adapt to secure market presence while maximising returns.
This virtual event aimed to encourage all governments of the region towards more ambitious climate action driven by energy transition.

The third IRENA Innovation Week – a virtual gathering of leading policy makers, innovators, developers and investors from across IRENA’s diverse global membership – convened to explore how systemic innovative solutions can support the use of renewables in the energy-end-use sectors of buildings, transport & industry.
The panel focused on the question of what it means to mainstream these pathways across different sectors and businesses.
This event showcased best practices on how NDCs have been enhanced in the energy sector, and highlighted the support and finance needed to now move these targets into action.
The report analyses the current renewable energy finance and policy landscape in the Republic of North Macedonia, identifies specific barriers and associated risks which can hold back private-sector investment in renewable energy, and provides recommendations on policy frameworks and financial de-risking instruments to scale up renewable energy investments.

Together with a wide range of partners, IRENA ensured that through a series of high-level events, panel discussions and initiatives, that renewable energy was at the highest level on the global agenda of climate action.
IRENA and the High-level Climate Champions hosted this event to support the accelerated mobilisation of investments and finance for energy transitions in SIDS for improved livelihoods and poverty eradication.
IRENA in conjunction with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and UK COP26 hosted the webinar “Advancing the Energy Transition in Latin America and the Caribbean through Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs)” as a forum for regional discussion on raising the ambition of the national climate pledges in the lead up to COP26, through enhanced NDCs, and exploring in particular the key role this plays in LAC countries’ energy transitions and economic recoveries from COVID19.
The third virtual meeting of the Collaborative Framework on Hydropower aimed to raise awareness amongst Members on the most pressing hydropower-related issues. The meeting also presented an opportunity for Member States to share their knowledge, experiences and best practices.
The capacity building workshop was a national level, 2-days training that covered the theoretical aspect of climate investments and flows as well as the approaches and practices adopted to track and report these investments and financial flows.
