GROWTH@IRENA Traineeship Programme 2020

The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) invites undergraduate students to register their interest in the 2020 GROWTH@IRENA traineeship. The programme is an initiative designed to build capacity among students that are currently based or have direct family based in the UAE. Those studying business administration, communications, development, economics, energy, engineering, environmental studies, finance, international affairs or any related discipline are encouraged to apply.  

GROWTH@IRENA is a learning opportunity for motivated students looking to secure meaningful work experience within an international organization. The programme is unpaid and runs for four weeks during the months of July and August. It offers hands-on experience in the different areas of work of an intergovernmental organization, as well as an opportunity to grow a professional network while learning more about possible international career pathways.

Tasks, Duration and Location
Selected students will be placed to perform duties as closely relevant to their academic field of study for a duration of 4 weeks at IRENA HQ in Masdar City, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. 

Application Process
Interested candidates must send their application to GROWTH@IRENA.org no later than close of business (17:00) on 14 May 2020 (Abu Dhabi time) and include the following:

  • A comprehensive CV stating the university, undergraduate programme, languages and any relevant work experience.
  • A passport photograph.
  • A copy of a valid passport (including any visa page for the UAE).
  • A copy of Emirates ID (For UAE residents).
  • A cover letter highlighting:
    • Your reason for wanting to join the program and what you can bring to or contribution to the mission of the Agency;
    • At least two areas of technical fields/interests relevant to the work of the Agency;
    • Your availability during the months of July-August.

In light of the exceptional circumstances associated with the COVID-19 Pandemic, and in line with national and international guidelines, IRENA will assess the overall feasibility of hosting this summer’s GROWTH Programme, and may devise modalities pertaining to physical presence at IRENA HQ. This may include elements of remote working. Responses to successful candidates only will be communicated by 14 June 2020.
